This collaboration will provide the digital backbone for Pan Am’s future Operations Control Center (OCC) and Airbus performance workflows, as it prepares to relaunch scheduled air services with a modern fleet of Airbus narrowbody aircraft.
Engineering a modern Operations Control Center (OCC)
To support its return to the skies, Pan Am® is building a high-performance OCC from the ground up. By selecting Skywise, the airline is adopting an integrated ecosystem designed to maximize performance and streamline day-to-day flight planning while maintaining world-class operational standards.
The transition includes the deployment of three key digital pillars:
- N-Flight Planning (N-FP): A robust environment for dispatchers to compute efficient and optimized flight paths, reducing overhead costs through high-precision data planning.
- N-Ops & Crew (N-OC): A unified solution for the dynamic management of aircraft and personnel, ensuring a resilient operation and efficiently scheduled, well-rested crew members.
- Flysmart+: A seamless digital solution providing pilots with real-time Airbus aircraft performance calculations directly in the cockpit.
Bridging heritage with innovation
Founded in 1927, Pan American World Airways remains one of the iconic names in aviation history. Widely recognized as a symbol of the golden age of air travel, the airline helped shape modern international aviation and introduced new standards in passenger experience and global connectivity.
Pan Am was the first airline to operate scheduled services across both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans and played a major role in the expansion of international commercial aviation throughout the twentieth century. Today, the airline is working toward its official return to service with an Airbus family of aircraft, subject to all applicable FAA and DOT approvals.
This new agreement continues that legacy of innovation; Pan Am was an early operator of the Airbus A300 and A310, and this collaboration reaffirms its commitment to cutting-edge technology.
"We are delighted to be once again working with the team at Skywise for flight planning and dispatch for our system operations control center," said Ed Wegel, President and CEO of Pan American World Airways.
"We are particularly impressed with the great advances in system design, functionality, and efficiency that Skywise has built into these systems over the past five years. We look forward to working with them as we move through our Part 121 certification process with the FAA and prepare for the launch of scheduled air services."
Andrew Shenouda, Head of Americas Region at Skywise, added: "We are very honored to support Pan Am’s historic re-entry into service by providing the digital backbone for their flight operation. By integrating the Skywise suite during this critical certification phase, we are ensuring Pan Am has the operational precision and data-driven efficiency required to come back to the skies”.
About Pan American World Airways® (Pan Am®)
Pan American World Airways® is the relaunch of the iconic airline, which operated from 1927 until 1991. It is widely regarded as the airline that defined the golden age of jet travel, reaching its peak in the 1960s as the world’s most prestigious international carrier. Synonymous with white-glove service and jet-set style aboard its aircraft fleet, the brand transformed flying into a symbol of modern luxury and global connectivity.
Pan Am® was the first airline to fly across the Atlantic and the Pacific and conducted worldwide operations on 5 continents. It launched the Boeing 707 and 747, operated the Airbus A300 and A310, opened the Pan Am Inter-German Service and the Pan Am Shuttle between New York and Washington DC and Boston, and set the standard for in-flight service.
Pan Am® is currently undergoing FAA and DOT certification and working toward its official launch with the Airbus family of aircraft, subject to all U.S. FAA and DOT approvals. For more information visit www.panam.com.
